We would like to introduce Amanda Rose, our newly hired gallery assistant, to our subscribers. Amanda is an MFA student at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She will be working with us to curate and install shows, act as host for opening receptions, and will be acquiring gallery skills for her own future development. Her, in her own words, is a bit about Amanda.
Amanda Rose is a visual artist from St. Paul, Minnesota. She is currently a first-year student in the Master of Fine Arts program at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She graduated from St. Olaf College in May 2021 with a degree in Studio Art and Art History. Her creative work focuses on themes of gender, identity and the environment. Through her artistic practice, she aims to increase representation for people of color and share her experiences as a multicultural woman. Portraiture is also an important part of her practice, and she uses portraits to capture the unique personal identities of her subjects. Her primary mediums include acrylic, oil, watercolor, graphite, and digital media. At St. Olaf, Amanda was co-curator of the student-led exhibition UPRISING: Narrating Black Presence and Expression on the Hill for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 academic years.
